Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed on Tuesday that the note found on the woman doctor who allegedly died by suicide in Phaltan was authenticated as her handwriting. This revelation ties two individuals to her alleged harassment: a police sub-inspector and a software engineer.
The woman's tragic death has sparked a judicial inquiry, with the investigation so far revealing that the police sub-inspector, Gopal Badane, abused his power by promising marriage to the victim, while Prashant Bankar, the software engineer, subjected her to mental harassment.
In response to inquiries in the assembly, Fadnavis assured the House of the government's commitment to women's safety. He also noted that while the Shakti Bill was returned for overstepping central powers, new legislation addresses women's safety effectively.
