The Congress party finds itself at a crossroads following UDF convenor Adoor Prakash's controversial statement that Malayalam cinema star Dileep 'got justice' after his acquittal in the 2017 sexual assault case.

The Grand Old Party quickly distanced itself from the remark, reiterating its support for the survivor. Congress leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Assembly V D Satheesan, senior leader Ramesh Chennithala, and colleague Uma Thomas, emphasized the need for an appeal, arguing that the prosecution failed to uncover the conspiracy behind the case.

State Culture Affairs Minister Saji Cherian stated that justice was served to the victim regarding the crime, but with the court unable to prove conspiracy, an appeal will follow to validate the prosecution's claims. Meanwhile, the assault on the actress has left an indelible mark on Kerala society.
