A significant drug bust unfolded at Pune International Airport as officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) seized hydroponic marijuana valued at Rs 2.29 crore. Officials confirmed the seizure occurred on Monday after a male passenger, arriving from Bangkok, was identified through specific profiling measures.

The suspect was traveling on IndiGo flight 6E-1096 when he was intercepted. A thorough search of his checked-in baggage revealed 2,299.44 grams of high-grade hydroponic cannabis, meticulously packed in two airtight pouches. The illegal substance was immediately confiscated, leading to the passenger's arrest under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as per an official statement.

The AIU has commenced a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the narcotics, identify intended beneficiaries, and examine connections to extensive drug trafficking syndicates.
