In a dramatic turn of events, a criminal carrying a reward, identified as Abdul alias Saif, was found dead in the Ganga river, police said Tuesday evening. Abdul was the prime suspect in a violent attack earlier this month in the Kotwali Katra area.

Authorities acted swiftly upon the discovery of his body near Maharshi Dayanand Public School, promptly arranging a post-mortem. Police are diligently pursuing the investigation to uncover the cause of death, which remains unknown at present, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Singh.

The incident initially garnered significant attention when Abdul allegedly attacked a Hindu girl with a blade, leading to widespread protests and a swift police response. While Abdul eluded capture initially, police efforts resulted in the arrest of nine of his alleged associates.
