The Mumbai Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into the abetment of suicide case against Anant Garje, personal assistant to Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde, as confirmed by officials.

The SIT, which comprises eight police personnel, is led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Ragasudha R and was initiated on December 5, an official disclosed on Tuesday.

Garje was apprehended last month for allegedly abetting the suicide of his wife, Gauri Palve, a dentist at a municipal hospital in Mumbai. As per police reports, she hanged herself in their Worli residence, reportedly due to domestic issues.

A case was filed at the Worli Police Station based on a complaint from Palve's father, implicating Garje and two relatives.

The couple, who had married in February, were both employed at the civic-run KEM Hospital.
