A court in Goa has placed Ajay Gupta, an alleged silent partner in the fire-stricken 'Birch by Romeo Lane' nightclub, into police custody for a seven-day period. This legal development follows Gupta's arrest in Delhi and subsequent transportation to Goa for further interrogation.
The blaze at the nightclub in North Goa claimed 25 lives—comprising both staff and visitors—on the night of December 6. Gupta maintains his innocence, insisting he had no operational role in the nightclub, which is at the heart of this tragic event.
In related developments, co-owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra have been detained in Thailand, with an Interpol Blue Corner Notice issued for their apprehension. The investigation continues with multiple arrests already made.
