A local court in Ernakulam has acquitted Malayalam actor Dileep in the high-profile 2017 actress sexual assault case, citing the prosecution's failure to establish a conspiracy charge against him.
The judgement, released by District and Principal Sessions Court Judge Honey M Varghese, pointed out several inconsistencies and unsustainable arguments from the prosecution.
While Dileep and three others were acquitted, six others, including the primary accused Pulsar Suni, were sentenced to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment for their roles in sexually assaulting the actress.
