Himachal Pradesh Police launched an extensive operation against chitta, a form of adulterated heroin, across the state on Friday. The coordinated effort led to inspections of 254 deserted and semi-public sites and the checking of 596 vehicles.

As part of the 'Chitta-free Himachal' campaign, authorities targeted secluded areas like hill slopes, forest patches, abandoned buildings, and other vulnerable locations for drug misuse. This action is indicative of strong inter-range coordination among police forces to prevent drug-related activities.

The operation led to the checking and counseling of 301 individuals, with nine cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities took blood and urine samples from suspects as per legal protocols, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to curtailing drug abuse in the state.
