A Palghar court has delivered a verdict in a case dating back to 2018, convicting two individuals for the criminal intimidation of a female panchayat official.
Acquitted of more serious charges of assault and insult, the accused, Jayshree Jagan Dhanva and Shivdas Gangaram Tambadi, will not face jail time but have been fined Rs 5,000 each.
The court found insufficient evidence of the informant lawfully performing her duties at the time, affecting the prosecution under IPC sections 353 and 504.
