A deputy executive engineer at Osmania University was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
The officer, part of the Osmania University Building Division, was caught accepting the sum as part payment from a total bribe of Rs 11,000, intended to facilitate the release of bills totaling Rs 7.37 lakh for renovation projects at the campus's Maneru Boys Hostel. Additionally, it was purported to ensure smooth future contract work at the university.
The ACB revealed that an initial bribery amount of Rs 5,000 had been transferred through a digital payments service. The Rs 6,000 bribe was recovered from the officer, who is accused of performing his duties improperly to gain undue advantage. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
