A Delhi Police sub-inspector has been caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant, officials reported on Tuesday. The sub-inspector, Bharat Dahiya, was posted at the Prem Nagar police station.

He was apprehended by the Vigilance Unit on Monday evening in Rohini. The complainant, a Ghaziabad resident, alleged that the officer demanded money to prepare a favourable bail report in a case involving the complainant's mother.

Initially, the sub-inspector demanded Rs 2 lakh, which was negotiated down to Rs 50,000. A previous payment of Rs 5,000 had already been made, and the conversation was recorded. The vigilance team caught Dahiya in a pre-arranged operation, leading to his arrest and a registered case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
