Chhattisgarh Liquor Scam Unveiled: Arrest of Soumya Chaurasia

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested suspended state officer Soumya Chaurasia in connection with a liquor scam in Chhattisgarh. The alleged scam, executed during the Congress government, involved significant financial losses and gains, implicating various officials and politicians, including former excise minister Kawasi Lakhma and Chaitanya Baghel.

Soumya Chaurasia, formerly a deputy secretary in the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister's Office, has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate over her alleged role in a substantial liquor scam.

The arrest, tied to an investigation into financial misconduct during the past Congress administration, revolves around significant funds misappropriated through a coordinated liquor syndicate.

Key figures allegedly involved in the scam, with a financial impact exceeding Rs 2,500 crore, include Kawasi Lakhma, a former excise minister, and Chaitanya Baghel, the son of ex-Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
