Karnataka's Director General of Police (Prisons), Alok Kumar, announced a significant intensification of search operations against contraband items within the state's prisons. These efforts have resulted in substantial seizures in recent days.

In the past 36 hours, officials have recovered numerous mobile phones and SIM cards from facilities including Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, and Shivamogga. Specific seizures included 10 mobile phones and 4 SIM cards at Kalaburagi, 6 phones at Mangaluru, 4 phones at Ballari, and 3 phones alongside 4 SIM cards at Shivamogga prisons.

Promoted to DGP Prisons and Correctional Services, Kumar has ramped up efforts to eradicate contraband within prison walls. His commitment has led to confiscations of narcotics, knives, and other prohibited items, highlighting a zero-tolerance stance on illicit activities.
