The Delhi High Court has overturned an order by the Lokpal that granted the CBI permission to file a chargesheet against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in connection with an alleged cash-for-query scam.
The bench comprising Justices Anil Kshetarpal and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, delivering a judgment on Moitra's plea, annulled the Lokpal's decision and urged the body to grant reconsideration for sanction under Section 20 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act within a month.
The court's judgment underscores the procedural discrepancies highlighted by Moitra's counsel regarding the Lokpal's approach. While the CBI argues against Moitra's participation in the Lokpal's proceedings, further action awaits pending legal procedure compliance.
