The shocking discovery of mutilated cow carcasses at an incineration plant near a cowshed in Chandigarh has triggered a magisterial investigation. The alarming incident prompted visits from local officials, including Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav and Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla.
Local Congress leaders claim that some carcasses were found with missing eyes and hooves, indicating a severe negligence in animal care. The exact number of deceased cows is still uncertain, with estimates suggesting around 50 carcasses. In response, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has requested a detailed report.
In light of the outcry, legal actions are being initiated, and measures to prevent future incidents are being enforced, including enhanced monitoring and improved facilities at gaushalas. Installation of CCTV cameras and the formation of a dedicated veterinary team are steps taken to ensure better animal welfare.
