Justice Delivered: 30-Year Sentence in Gujarat's POCSO Case

A court in Gujarat's Mehsana district swiftly delivered justice, sentencing Satyanarayan Goswami to 30 years in prison. The special court handling POCSO cases found Goswami guilty of kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old.
The trial began eight months ago with Judge Sarang Kale presiding. Goswami was charged under sections of the POCSO Act related to penetrative sexual assault and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning kidnapping for forced marriage.
The court ordered Rs 1 lakh compensation for the victim from the state's fund. The abduction occurred on February 9, 2025, when Goswami took the girl while she was on her way to meet her mother. He later confessed to assaulting her. The prosecution presented testimonies and evidence to secure the conviction.
