Major Land Registration Scam Uncovered in Telangana

In a significant crackdown on fraud, Telangana police arrested fifteen individuals for allegedly orchestrating a Rs 3.9 crore scam through manipulations in land registrations on the Dharani and Bhu Bharati portals. The arrests, carried out in Jangaon and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts, reveal a complex web of deceit involving the fraudulent alteration of payment receipts.
Warangal Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh elaborated that the accused exploited loopholes in online land registration systems, affecting over 1,080 documents across the districts. The police have registered 22 cases and revealed that nine additional suspects remain at large.
Authorities seized cash, property documents, electronic devices, and other assets from the accused, further linking them to the scam. Police reported that the prime suspects controlled land registration processes through corrupt practices at online service centers and Mee Seva operators, causing significant revenue loss to the government.
