Indian National Jailed for Aviation Component Export Scheme

An Indian national, Sanjay Kaushik, has been sentenced to 30 months in a US prison for conspiring to export controlled aviation components illegally from Oregon to Russia. These actions were part of a calculated, profit-driven scheme that jeopardized US national security, as stated by US Attorney Scott Bradford.

The court highlighted Kaushik's attempts to undermine safeguards vital to US national security and foreign policy. The 58-year-old, along with his co-conspirators, carried out transactions involving aerospace goods under false pretenses, claiming the items were for an Indian entity while they were intended for Russian end users.

Kaushik's arrest followed a significant investigation that resulted in a federal grand jury indictment for conspiracy, attempted illegal export, and false statements. His guilty plea to conspiracy to sell dual-use aviation components sealed a sentence that emphasizes accountability for violations involving technologies with military applications.
