An alleged drug peddler has been apprehended by police on Sunday, following the discovery of 1.6 kg of heroin in his possession in the Munawarabad area of Srinagar city.
A police spokesperson reported that the individual, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Dar from Ichgam in Budgam, was caught during a routine police check conducted by a team from Police Station Khanyar near a sewage treatment plant. Upon inspection, two packets containing the heroin were uncovered in his bag.
A case has been registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, marking a significant win in the war against narcotics in the region. Investigations are ongoing to trace the roots and collaborators involved in this drug trafficking ring.
