An apparent accidental fire at an LIC office that resulted in the death of its Senior Branch Manager, Kalyani Nambi, has unfolded as a chilling tale of murder. Police investigations have led to the arrest of an assistant officer, Ram, suspected of deliberately setting the fire to cover up document irregularities.

The incident occurred on December 17 at 8:15 PM, when Ram allegedly poured petrol over documents and set them alight. When Kalyani Nambi discovered the act and attempted to call her son, Ram reportedly turned the flames on her and locked her in the room, police disclosed.

The police apprehended Ram after examining CCTV footage and a complaint from Kalyani's son, Lakshmi Narayanan, regarding a distress call from his mother. The probe revealed that Kalyani had been investigating financial discrepancies pointed towards Ram, who is currently under medical treatment for burns at a private hospital.
