Kharkiv and Odesa Hit: Russia's Ongoing Assault on Ukraine
Russian drones and missiles targeted Kharkiv and Odesa, causing widespread power outages and injuring many. Kharkiv's power grid suffered severe disruption, affecting the majority of the region. Odesa faced overnight drone attacks, resulting in injuries and significant damage to infrastructure, including schools and churches in the region.
Russian drones and missiles struck Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, on Monday, plunging it into darkness during freezing weather conditions. Simultaneously, an overnight attack in the southern city of Odesa left 23 people wounded, officials confirmed.
Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported two injuries and damage to two schools in Kharkiv, a city situated 30 km from the Russian border. The attack left 80% of the region without electricity, complicating repair efforts due to the constant threat of further strikes.
Odesa also faced a massive drone attack overnight, with fires damaging residential buildings and key infrastructure. The governor stated that nine of the injured were hospitalized, including vulnerable individuals. The attack follows a pattern of targeting energy infrastructure in the region.
