The Delhi High Court has pressed the Centre to authorize a Dubai-based law firm for representing retired Major Vikrant Jaitley, the brother of Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly. Major Jaitley has reportedly been detained illegally in the UAE for more than a year.

Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav emphasized the importance of effective legal aid and asked the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to either permit this representation or submit a justification by February 10. The law firm in question is offering pro-bono services with no objections from Major Jaitley.

The MEA has been accused of failing to secure basic information about the detained Indian, despite his prolonged detention. The court is now keen for the MEA to respond with clarity regarding their inaction by the next session.
