President Tayyip Erdogan has underscored the significance of an accord between the Syrian government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in alleviating pressure on Turkey's peace negotiations with Kurdish PKK militants.
During discussions with reporters aboard his return flight from visits to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Erdogan noted that SDF's compliance with the agreement would enhance peace prospects within Syria, aiming for greater regional stability.
Turkey, engaged for months in a peace process with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), insists that the SDF, labeled a terrorist group by Ankara, must follow the same path of disbanding and disarmament as part of achieving lasting peace.
