The West Bengal government, under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, began rolling out the 'Banglar Yuba Sathi' scheme to support unemployed youth with financial aid. Camps set up across all 294 constituencies aim to gather applications until February 26.
The initiative promises a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 for unemployed individuals aged 21 to 40 for up to five years. The camps will also handle applications for other welfare programs, including 'Lakshmir Bhandar' for women and Krishak Bandhu for farmers.
Despite the positive reception from participants, opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari criticized the scheme's execution, questioning the absence of an online application system and referencing past failures. The ruling Trinamool Congress countered, blaming the central government for employment deficits and reaffirming their commitment to supporting jobseekers.
