In response to a viral video featuring youths offering narcotic substances to a Lord Shiva idol during Mahashivratri, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar has issued a stern warning. The video sparked public outrage and prompted Sajjanar to caution about the legal consequences of such acts.
The incident occurred near a Shiva temple in Shamshabad, where two youths claimed to offer 'prasadam' to Shiva, deviating from the traditional coconut offerings with a narcotic drug, suspected to be ganja. The duo posted the footage online, seeking social media fame.
Sajjanar condemned the behavior, stating it is a disrespectful exploitation of a holy occasion. He highlighted the dangers of prioritizing 'likes' over lawful conduct and warned of strict legal ramifications under the NDPS Act. The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing is investigating the matter.
