A 69-year-old woman named Shobha was allegedly murdered and robbed of her gold ornaments at her home on the outskirts of the city, police disclosed on Thursday. The victim's husband, who is paralysed and bedridden, was present during the fatal attack on Pete Street in Nelamangala.
Shobha had devoted the past decade to caring for her husband, living a secluded life without children. The crime was discovered by her husband's physiotherapist, who found her lifeless body and immediately alerted authorities.
Police identified the accused as Shivakumar, a local wholesale shop owner who allegedly attacked Shobha to repay an Rs 8 lakh debt. CCTV footage led to his arrest, revealing that Shivakumar pretended to seek water to enter the home before committing the heinous act.
