The Delhi Police on Sunday apprehended another suspect linked to the killing of a 26-year-old man, which occurred during a family clash in southwest Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Holi night. Authorities have detained seven individuals so far and invoked the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as part of the investigation.
Identified as Imran, also known as Bunty, the eighth arrestee joins others apprehended for the altercation, which stemmed from a water balloon incident and a history of neighborhood disputes. Police detail the longstanding issues between the families, including previous arguments over parking and garbage disposal.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi executed a demolition drive, targeting illegal extensions linked to one of the accused. The action, aligned with efforts to clear drains before the monsoon, saw significant police and paramilitary presence to ensure order. The incident lit tension in the locality, spurring vehicle damage and a heightened security alert.
