In a significant drug bust in Gangtok, Sikkim Police have seized brown sugar valued at Rs 15 lakh and arrested one suspect. The arrest took place on Sunday, following credible information the police received about the illegal activity.
The suspect, who ran a meat shop in the Rongyek area, had 311.62 grams of brown sugar hidden in his rented room, according to officials involved in the operation. This highlights ongoing concerns about drug trafficking in the region.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Authorities are now investigating the source of the narcotics and whether the suspect is part of a larger network engaged in drug trafficking.
