An assistant executive engineer in Odisha has been arrested for allegedly holding disproportionate assets, authorities reported. Pramod Kumar Ray, associated with the Derabish irrigation sub-division, was apprehended following the discovery of substantial, unexplained wealth.

Vigilance officials uncovered a four-storey mansion near Bhubaneswar, a secondary residence, plots of land, significant cash sums, and multiple vehicles in Ray's possession. These assets were valued at 129% more than his reported income.

A case has been filed against Ray and his spouse under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. This incident underscores ongoing efforts to address corruption in government ranks within the region.
