A cleric from Sarwat locality was allegedly attacked by a group of men while en route to a mosque, according to police reports. The victim, Mufti Abdul Wahab, was assaulted with sticks and a bat after being stopped and questioned about his identity.
Following the attack, police registered a case against suspects Lavi, Basant, Harish, Aditya, and Rishabh. Lavi has been arrested, while efforts continue to locate the remaining accused. The cleric was initially treated at a district hospital before being transferred to a higher medical center due to his critical condition.
The incident was condemned by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, with its media in-charge, Maulana Sabir, calling it a provocative act and demanding strict action. Consequently, security measures have been intensified in the local area to prevent further unrest.
