Lebanon is in the grip of a humanitarian crisis as over half a million people have been forced to flee their homes due to escalating hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. The government's official count stands at 517,000 displaced individuals, though the real figure is suspected to be higher.
Amidst tightening financial constraints, the Lebanese government is facing severe challenges in accommodating the massive displacement. The affected individuals are primarily from large areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, seeking refuge away from the violence that has engulfed their regions.
In recent days, Israel has issued evacuation orders to residents of numerous villages across southern Lebanon, as well as the entire southern suburb of Beirut, further exacerbating the displacement crisis as fighting continues to escalate.
