A 24-year-old woman suffered severe burns in a shocking acid attack at Civil Hospital in Gurugram. The assault came after a man, who had earlier attacked her, followed her to the hospital and committed the crime, police reported on Monday.

The incident unfolded on Sunday evening when the woman, hailing from Nuh district, visited her aunt in Gurugram. Despite a prior assault that day, the man pursued her to the city and demanded a meeting. An altercation ensued, leading to an initial attack.

Subsequently, the woman was taken to Civil Lines Hospital, Sector 10, for treatment. At approximately 8.30 p.m., the assailant arrived and threw acid on her, causing severe burns. Investigating Officer Sub Inspector Anil Kumar announced the investigation, involving scrutiny of CCTV footage and awaiting family statements, to determine further actions.
