Reptile Smuggling Kingpin Arrested: A Strike Against Wildlife Crime

The Madhya Pradesh State Tiger Strike Force, in conjunction with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, successfully apprehended Tarak Nath Ghosh, a prominent figure in an extensive reptile smuggling operation originating from Kanpur, officials reported on Monday.
Ghosh, who had remained at large for eight years, is implicated in three high-profile cases of illicit turtle and gharial trade that cross international borders, with proceedings pending in Madhya Pradesh courts.
The accused, whose syndicate operates in multiple Indian states and internationally, including Bangladesh and Thailand, will face legal proceedings before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Shivpuri as authorities seek further intelligence on his network.
