Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, on Monday, emphasized the pressing need to address Punjab's 'challenging' law and order situation. Speaking after a visit to Kali Mata Mandir in Patiala, he stressed the necessity of continuous monitoring and strict measures by the administration to ensure the state's progress.

Governor Kataria, accompanied by former Union minister Preneet Kaur and Punjab BJP's Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur, also shared insights on fiscal management. He pointed out the state's rising public debt of over Rs 1.25 lakh crore and urged the government to maintain a balance between income and expenditure for sustainable growth.

Highlighting key budget allocations, Kataria stressed the importance of financial discipline, advocating for the budget deficit to stay within three percent of GDP. Significant budget allocations include Rs 19,000 crore for education and Rs 15,000 crore for farmer support, alongside aid schemes for women.
