Three men have been apprehended in connection with a robbery involving gold and cash valued at Rs 52.90 lakh from the residence of a real estate businessman in Bengaluru. The suspects allegedly masqueraded as policemen to gain entry under the guise of reviewing CCTV footage for an ongoing case investigation, authorities disclosed on Tuesday.
On February 16, the crime came to light when the victim lodged a complaint at Byadarahalli police station, describing how the impostors restrained him and his wife with a knife threat and subsequently looted their home. Police seized 429 grams of gold jewelry and Rs 10 lakh in cash following the arrest of the culprits.
Investigations revealed that the chief suspect had recently been released on parole from Hindalga Jail. After the burglary, he returned to prison, where he provided police with critical information leading to the capture of his associates and the recovery of the stolen assets in Shivamogga and RR Nagar.
