Unprecedented Motion for CEC's Removal: Signatures Gather to Challenge 'Partisan Conduct'

The notice has garnered signatures from over 120 Lok Sabha MPs and 60 from the Rajya Sabha, exceeding the required numbers for proposing such a motion. This landmark move involves members from all INDIA bloc parties, including signatories from the Aam Aadmi Party despite its current status outside the bloc.

This is the first notice of its kind against a CEC, with opposition leaders accusing Kumar of assisting the ruling BJP in various instances, most notably during the Special Intensive Revision exercise in West Bengal. The removal process mirrors that of a high court or Supreme Court judge, requiring a special majority in both Parliamentary Houses.
