A loud explosion was reported near the Incirlik military base in southern Turkey, home to U.S. troops, causing windows to shake during the night. A Reuters witness and social media footage confirmed the incident, highlighting growing tension in the region.
Amid continued U.S. and Israeli conflicts with Iran, NATO has reinforced its missile defences, deploying a U.S. Patriot system in Malatya. The move follows the interception of missiles launched from Iran towards Turkey.
Although Turkey's Anadolu news agency reported early Friday sirens at the base, Ankara has yet to comment. The origins of the explosion remain unclear, along with the targets of Iran's previous missile launches.
