Major Drug Bust Unveils Rs 25 Lakh Opium Haul
A 35-year-old man, Ramcharan Dangi, was arrested in Jharkhand's Chatra district while attempting to deliver opium worth Rs 25 lakh. A 35-year-old man has been detained by law enforcement in Jharkhand's Chatra district for trafficking opium valued at Rs 25 lakh, police reported on Sunday.
The arrest took place on Saturday within the jurisdiction of Gidhaur police station, along the Chatra-Hazaribag main road. Police identified the accused as Ramcharan Dangi, apprehending him while he awaited the consignment's delivery.
Authorities seized 4 kg of opium and 2 kg of a jaggery-like narcotic, presumably intended to inflate the drug's weight. Superintendent of Police Animesh Naithani stated that Dangi was caught following a tip-off and now faces charges under the NDPS Act.
