The Andhra Pradesh government has released Rs 45 crore as an honorarium for Imams and Mouzans across the state. This measure comes from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's orders, aligning with the state's observance of the Ramzan festival.
An official release stated that the funds, intended to clear outstanding payments pending for six months, were distributed following the Chief Minister's participation in the state Iftar event. This allocation will benefit 5,000 mosques with Rs 15,000 each monthly.
The sanctioned amount is part of the government's efforts to support the religious leaders financially, ensuring they receive their dues for the period from October 2025 to March 2026, within the current financial year 2025-26.
