In a formal request, the Delhi Inter-state Bus Terminal Porters' Union has urged the state government to address longstanding concerns by updating the now obsolete porter rates, which have not been revised in over three decades.
The union also demanded identity cards for regulation and enhanced welfare measures, such as insurance and pension, arguing that workers lack basic social security despite years of service.
Attention was drawn to the substandard conditions at the ISBT Kashmiri Gate, where inadequate facilities pose significant health risks. Union president Sunil Aledia criticized the persistent stagnation in fees and rates, emphasizing the need for reform.
