Escalating Tensions: Kremlin Condemns U.S.-Israeli Actions
The Kremlin condemned the killing of Iran's leaders in U.S.-Israeli airstrikes. Iran's adviser Ali Larijani was confirmed dead, causing Russia to call for a ceasefire. Russia's involvement with Iran includes intelligence sharing and military cooperation. Kremlin spokesman dismissed media reports as disinformation, requesting official U.S. comment.
The Kremlin has strongly condemned what it labels as 'the murder' of Iran's leaders following U.S.-Israeli airstrikes. This reaction comes after confirmation from Iran's Fars news agency that Ali Larijani, a senior adviser, was killed in Tehran.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reiterated Russia's stance against any threats to the leadership of sovereign nations, especially Iran, a close partner. He called for an immediate ceasefire and urged negotiations in light of the recent escalations.
Despite reports from The Wall Street Journal suggesting increased Russian-Iranian military cooperation, Peskov dismissed such claims as disinformation, urging reliance on official statements from U.S. representatives, who reportedly have no evidence on the matter.
