Gujarat ATS Uncovers Massive Mephedrone Manufacturing Plot in Uttar Pradesh

They seized significant quantities of the illicit drug and its ingredients. The ATS, aided by UP police, located the operation at a poultry farm, advancing their crackdown on illegal narcotics production.

In a significant development, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) apprehended two individuals linked to a mephedrone manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar district. The operation netted 6 kg of mephedrone, 50 kg of its liquid form, and 88 kg of essential chemicals.
According to ATS Superintendent of Police Sunil Joshi, Kapildev Sharma (31) and Ramshankar, alias Pankaj Parshuram (30), both from Uttar Pradesh, were arrested during a police raid. The raid, conducted at a poultry farm, was part of a joint effort with local law enforcement.
Mephedrone is a psychotropic substance prohibited under the NDPS Act due to its high potential for abuse. The suspects are in police custody for 12 days, as authorities probe the extent of the illegal network. The bust follows earlier arrests in the same investigation.
