A 22-year-old man named Sunny Sarkar has been apprehended by Delhi police for allegedly stealing gold and diamond jewellery valued at approximately Rs 90 lakh. The arrest took place following a theft at a residence in northwest Delhi, with the accused reportedly driven by a drug addiction.

Authorities reported discovering 400 grams of the stolen jewellery in Sarkar's possession upon his arrest. Sarkar, a resident of Burari, had allegedly been involved in minor thefts previously, but had evaded capture until now. The theft allegedly occurred at a house near Ramlila ground in Mukherjee Nagar, an area Sarkar targeted after seeing it was unsecured.

Investigations revealed that Sarkar entered the home through an easily accessible gate and stole the jewellery after finding the cupboard keys. His movements, traced via CCTV, tracked him exiting the residence and making his way towards Batra Bandh before eventually taking an e-rickshaw to Coronation Park. During interrogation, he confessed and returned the stolen items, which he admitted to taking to support his drug habit.
