The state of Sikkim has embarked on a groundbreaking journey with the launch of its self-enumeration exercise for Census 2027, marking a significant shift towards digital governance. Under the new initiative, citizens can submit their information online in a secure environment, streamlining the census process.

Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led the charge by completing the self-enumeration process on Wednesday. The initiative aims to ensure comprehensive and accurate data collection, which is crucial for future governance and development plans.

Census 2027 is being executed in two phases: the initial houselisting and housing census, followed by the population census. The self-enumeration window in Sikkim is set from April 1 to April 15, providing residents an opportunity to participate online before the traditional door-to-door survey commences.
