Punjab Power Official Nabbed for Bribery Scandal

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has detained Hardeep Singh, a sub-divisional officer at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. This incident occurred in the Malerkotla district, following a complaint by a Bhogiwal village resident.
According to the complainant, Hardeep Singh found unauthorized electricity meters at his house and demanded a bribe to overlook the situation. The bribery demand was recorded as evidence, prompting the Vigilance Bureau to take action.
The officials conducted a sting operation, arresting Singh while he accepted the bribe in front of witnesses. A case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further inquiries are ongoing.
