In a notable international development, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Israel on February 25-26. The visit coincided with a military conflict initiated by US-Israel against Iran on February 28. This attack prompted Tehran to retaliate against US bases in the Gulf region.
Amid this geopolitical tension, Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Wahab questioned the Ministry of External Affairs regarding agreements signed during Modi's visit. Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, clarified that while extensive discussions took place with Israel, no talks regarding the military attack on Iran occurred. Instead, a focus was maintained on strategic partnerships in areas like artificial intelligence and financial services.
The Indian government continues to closely monitor the Gulf situation, prioritizing civilian safety. Dialogue with regional leaders, including those from GCC countries, has emphasized diplomacy and cautious de-escalation. Efforts have been made to ensure safe travels for Indians and secure strategic resources, ensuring minimal disruption during these turbulent times.
