Sandeep Rai Rathore Appointed as Tamil Nadu's New DGP Amidst Key Police Reshuffling

The Election Commission of India has announced a significant change in Tamil Nadu's police leadership with the appointment of senior IPS officer Sandeep Rai Rathore as the new Director General of Police. He succeeds G Venkataraman, who has been serving as the in-charge DGP since September 2025.
Sandeep Rai Rathore, a 1992 batch IPS officer, takes over the role ahead of the critical Assembly election scheduled for April 23. Prior to this role, Rathore was the DGP Training in Chennai, showcasing his extensive experience in law enforcement.
In addition to Rathore's appointment, a series of other key transfers include Sanjay Kumar and Abhishek Dixit, indicating a strategic reshuffling of police leadership in the state. These changes will impact important areas such as coastal security, traffic and road safety, and crime investigation.
