The Odisha state government kick-started the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 on April 1 and took measures to ensure its smooth execution by barring official transfers until the process concludes. This strategic move underscores the government's commitment to maintaining consistency in data collection efforts.
In an official letter, Additional Chief Secretary Arabinda Padhee emphasized the importance of keeping officials in their current positions to effectively manage the newly launched self-enumeration exercise. The process, scheduled to last until April 15, is critical for gathering accurate data required to serve the populace effectively.
Following self-enumeration, house listing operations will begin on April 16 and continue through May 15. The primary population enumeration will occur in February 2027 and involve over 1 lakh trained enumerators and supervisors canvassing households to collect comprehensive demographic information.
