In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police have dismantled a sophisticated racket involved in repackaging and distributing expired food and beverage products in Dwarka. Three men were arrested, and a significant quantity of products from well-known multinational brands was seized, all with forged manufacturing and expiry dates.
During the operation, police recovered 3,096 cans of soft drinks and a large collection of biscuits with altered packaging from a godown in Dwarka Sector-28. The arrested individuals—Kamal Mudgil, Shivam Singh, and Lokesh Kumar—were reportedly engaged in these illegal activities, posing a threat to consumer health and safety.
Officials from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) were present to verify licenses and collect samples. The culprits used a printing machine to forge new dates, replacing original ones. This bust highlights the ongoing challenge of ensuring food safety in the face of such deceptive practices.
