India's Digital Leap: Census 2027 Marks a New Era

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla commenced Census 2027 by completing his registration, highlighting the process's security and accessibility. This digital Census, a first in India's history, allows citizens to self-enumerate online, marking significant progress. The initiative aims to gather accurate data for better planning and development across the nation.

In a step heralding a digital transformation for India, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla completed his self-enumeration registration for the Census 2027 on Friday, emphasizing the process's enhanced security and user-friendliness.

Speaking in the presence of Registrar General of India Mrityunjay Kumar Narayan, Birla noted the Census's historic shift towards digitalization. For the first time, the massive national exercise is being conducted online, enabling citizens to record household details conveniently and independently. The process's first phase, the house listing and housing Census, began with Birla's registration at his Delhi residence.

Following its initiation on Wednesday in selected regions, the Census opens a 15-day self-enumeration window across eight states and Union Territories, including parts of the national capital. Birla urged citizens to participate actively, aligning with the vision of 'Janganna Se Jankalyan' to foster a strong and prosperous nation. The enumeration involves gathering extensive data on household facilities and head of household demographics, establishing a framework for subsequent population data collection.
